Trims and Pricing

The 2023 Chevrolet Malibu is available in four trims and three special editions, including the following:

  • LS.

  • RS.

  • LT.

  • 2LT.

  • Midnight Edition.

  • Sport Edition.

  • Redline Edition.

Each of these trims varies in standard and available features. You'll want to examine each trim to determine which best suits your needs. The Malibu LS starts at $25,000 and increases to the 2LT, which starts at $31,500.

The 2023 Hyundai Sonata has eight trims — five gas-powered and three hybrid builds. These trims include the following:

  • SE (gas).

  • SEL (gas).

  • SEL Plus (gas).

  • N Line (gas).

  • Limited (gas).

  • Blue (hybrid).

  • SEL (hybrid).

  • Limited (hybrid).

Like the Malibu, every Sonata trim has different standard and available features. The Sonata SE trim starts at $25,100 and increases to the Limited, which starts at $34,475.

Engine and Transmission

Every Chevrolet Malibu trim has a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with direct injection. This engine produces 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and sends this power to its standard front-wheel drive through its continuously variable transmission. The EPA gives the 2023 Malibu a combined 30 mpg — 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

Unlike the Malibu, you can get a different engine in your Sonata depending on the trim you select. For example, the SE has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. The N Line has a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that creates 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Every Sonata trim couples these engines with standard front-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission. The trim you choose will also have an impact on its fuel economy. An SE starts at a combined 27 mpg, with the most efficient hybrid Sonata reaching a combined 52 mpg.

Interior and Technology

Interior and tech features are where the Malibu stands out from its competition. The 2023 Malibu is one of its class's most comfortable and spacious cars. With a wide frame and large trunk, the Malibu brings plenty of legroom and interior storage space. This configuration makes the Malibu ideal for almost all situations, from a camping road trip to a daily school commute.

The Malibu's interior technology adds to the overall experience, featuring the Chevrolet infotainment system. You can connect your wireless device through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to play your music, podcasts, or navigation service using this system. Moreover, the Malibu offers built-in Alexa if you want your virtual assistant on the go.

The Hyundai Sonata offers similar space and technological features to the Chevrolet Malibu. For example, every Sonata comes standard with an 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system that's compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher Sonata trims, such as the N Line or Limited, come with standard features that include Dynamic Voice Recognition, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and a wireless device charger.

One of the most significant technological features of the 2023 Sonata and other new Hyundais is the digital key. Using the Hyundai app, you can unlock your car and even use certain vehicle functions remotely from your smartphone.
